While that may generally frustrate some, I never really noticed until you said something. The reason the Hero or Magic have a different keyboard is the fact that it's not tied to the Android OS. The HTC IME is proprietary HTC software, not affiliated with Google, so while it does work on the Android platform as a free option, it was primarily designed for HTC's own SenseUI and Touch Flo 3D solutions.
The benefit of Android is the fact that you have the ability to download whatever keyboard you want from the Market or whatever source you choose. Its all customization-focused.

Tell me that .....is Nexus one a mobile or not!? all customization-focused, i can only said ...it is completely customer-ignored, i'm just a mobile user!!!...........don't ask me to tailor made my mobile's software!!! i suppose to download games, tools, theme in "Market" u said to enhanced my mobile. I'm not a Software Engineer!!!
If google claim Nexus one is only for software engineer, i would not order it............
for ur information, i'm working in telcom/mobile network for 13 yrs!!!

Okay, well then you should realize that the market is moving towards customization and personalization and if downloading a simple application for added functionality is too much for you, then perhaps you shouldn't own a smartphone.
or
You can take the first option and do it the easy way instead of complaining about the most minute issue. It really is that simple.

To set up Yahoo E-Mail on the Motorola Droid:
- Make sure Wi-Fi is turned off
- Press the E-Mail icon (the default Android E-Mail application)
- Enter your Yahoo E-Mail address and password
- Press “Manual Setup” in the lower left hand corner
- For “Incoming Server Settings” set the IMAP server to “imap.mail.yahoo.com” and the Port to 143
- For “Outgoing Server Settings” set the SMTP Server to “smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com” and the Port to 587
- Check “Require sign-in” and press Next
- Select how often your Droid will check for Email, and choose default options
- Give the account a name and set your display name for outgoing messages
Done and done. You’ve now got Yahoo Mail on your Motorola Droid and it will work with the all-new “Combined Inbox” in Android 2.0. Beautiful.
Have to give credit to Smilepak who shared this with AndroidForums.com members after posting it on his blog. In that same AF thread he has quick tuts on Droid screenshots, Lotus Notes Sync and iTunes sync. Wait – what? iTunes Sync? Oh man… this is going to require an article of its own!
